Thing Four - RSS feeds, Twitter, Pushnote

I already use Twitter and an RSS reader, so this post will concentrate on Pushnote -  something that I have never heard of before.

Incidently, if anyone is wondering at my sudden eagerness in completing these Things; it is because I have a week off work, and actually have time to do them now.

And I clearly couldn't be doing anything more fun with my holiday.

So, Pushnote.

I signed up, and browsed the web for quite some time, trying tpo find a site which someone - anyone - has commented on.

All the time I was thinking: "this is rubbish, no one has commented on any websites. What a pointless piece of technology."

And then I realised I hadn't logged in to the Pushnote add-on. Technology: 1, Alfred the Gnome: 0.

After some more successful browsing, here are my very valuable opinions on Pushnote:
1) If you are self-obsorbed, uncaring of the opinions of strangers, or frequently angered by the stupid comments on youtube/newspaper articles, then, like me (who of course fits all the above criteria) you will probably find the general comments on pushnote mildly irritating, or at best, pointless.
2) More interesting was the 'friends' feature. As with social networking media (clue's in the name, after all) you can add and 'follow' your friends on pushnote, and see instantly which websites they've commented on. Now, I care slightly more about my friends' opinions than those of strangers. Sightly. So I had a quick browse through the comments of palelyloitering, and in doing so came across Diigo - a new and improved (apparently) type of bookmarking (and more!) site. It looks quite good actually. I might transfer my delicious bookmarks across. Thanks palely
3) I don't think Pushnote is something I am going to use much. I doubt many of my friends or colleagues use it currently, or -to be honest- will use it as a result of this Thing. And while it did cause me to see a useful-looking site, I am sure I would have come across it eventually through some other media, such as a reccomendation via twitter.

That all said, I won't disable it quite yet. Let it lie inactive at the top of my browser for a good month or so yet. I may change my mind about it one day.
